Indie pop will always a place at the top table for me and Owen Duff consistently shows himself adept at serving up the best the genre has to offer. There are plenty reminders of Elliott Smith, a melancholy and seriousness that nevertheless can’t hold back the endless flow of harmonies and genuine hope that the malaise of the central character is not insurmountable. ‘Give Up On Me’ is charming company from a bard who exudes a warmth despite all the slings and arrows he has to endlessly cope with.
