All for something a little different and Gnomes leading with a wandering brass section definitely fits the bill. That they follow it up with indie pop charm means ‘Chilblains’ might be detailing uncomfortable feeling but all I took from it was an uncommon warmness. The gold comes in those close harmonies, slowly turned out but most assuredly made for soundtracking sunshine days and even if there is no sunshine we’ll feel the glow all the same. That ‘Chilblains’ builds a head of steam before dissipating again just adds to the magic. KH
