I do think to make good on what Drew Elder has drawn up here we’d need a sunset view from a prime spot on the prairie. And that is because he has something for lonely cowboys or travellers of any kind who harbours a certain grandeur deep inside that needs tending to via an appropriate piece of music. And ‘Narrow Creek’ would certainly fill the gap for such things because it pulls together the traditional with the contemporary in a union that is merry as can be – like Beirut in other words. There will be romance and friendships sealed to the rousing cinematic gestures of this epic. Bonus points of course for the lost art of whistling that gets some much needed time in the sun – life affirming stuff. KH
