The thing with Colatura is that they expect that your attention is true, otherwise you are going to miss the stuff that is happening away from the surface. It is perhaps the reason why songs like ‘Do You Miss Her’ feels so fulsome, full of melody but sometimes buried in a wedge of shoegaze feedback. One thing is clear though they know how to craft a song that gets us into a mood where every other distraction is blocked out, the dreampop allure that has been with us since the 90’s but which Colatura have so eloquently re-imagined. A big bold statement of intent that reminded me of early Sinead O’Connor. KH
