You just can’t deny that Better Joy really have a lot of smiles to dish out and their ‘Carnival’ is positively brimming with the stuff (it reminded me of the riff from Kirsty MacColl’s ‘A New England’). For one the tempo is unrestrained in its indie anthem approach and all topped by singer Bria Keely who makes it her mission to raise the happiness index to record levels. Has a Scandinavian indie pop quality that reminds of Club 8 or the Acid House Kings and that means Better Joy know how find summer even when we are landed in the outer reaches of winter. Triumphant stuff. KH
