It felt like we’d entered a Mike Oldfield parallel universe at first but you could see how Leeds’ Matt Gwilt twisted towards an LCD Soundsystem (and a hint of Daniel Avery) kind of groove thereafter. And ‘I Feel Free’ is liberating in that it is pushing the boundaries but not at the expense of the groove, which screams fun and frolics to me. So there is articulation, there is dancefloor and a general mood of breaking free from convention because at every turn there is a change of tact so we’re consistently kept on our toes. Baggy might yet see a return to the fold with this kind of sort rustling us into a series of loose shapes. I close my eyes and hear Jagwar Ma. KH
