The mood is one of melancholy but delivered in a certain grandeur as the music weaves a pretty mosaic. But there is more and it comes from a singer who produced such a dreamy disposition that I genuinely feel like ‘Breathe Out, Breathe In’ could have medicinal properties. I certainly felt a lift, the swell of arrangement such that it gets into all the gaps in our psyche that need filling. There is something magical stirring here from a Norwegian artist reborn decades after leaving the industry. We should be grateful that Ola Kvaløy has come back to music to offer the medium an opportunity for salvation. KH
