The chords they sure do scream and it means we know we are in a battle for preserving our break from tinnitus. But Soft No don’t care about all that as they grab the opportunity to make virulent noise on ‘Melting Timelines’ with all the cloudbusting intensity imaginable. This could be the Breeders or the Smashing Pumpkins because it has a grunge glow, but most of all it feels like we are acquainting ourselves with an act whose default setting is to go out every time in a blaze of glory. A giant statement of intent with a debut record on the horizon from this Philadelphia-based act. KH
