The first act that popped into my head was Stereolab but I can see how that could just have easily have been Broadcast and that is down to the electronic devilment that Stockholm’s Flikka brings to the party. Throwing a wobble into the proceedings too by way of a singer who easily hogs the spotlight owing to her bright eyed manner. In fact ‘Your Eyes Are Red’ (inspired by NYC) quickly takes on the form of an adult lullaby, a funk of sorts but a turn into alt pop that feels like a ‘Sunny Afternoon’ for the new century. It is off-kilter but in the best way imaginable, its got the kinks and the kicks to win us over. KH
