Sam and Louise Sullivan – Pointer Sisters

There is a lineage to the great Elliott Smith but on this evidence the Sullivan siblings from Philadelphia do have something of the Simon & Garfunkel’s about them too (and not forgetting the Magic Numbers). Of course that kind of union mean that the harmonies are as honeyed as can be. Where things really sparkle however is at chorus time when a fully fledged summer sound emerges in rosy-cheeked fashion. With ‘Pointer Sisters’ comfort is always close at hand, pop so adept it can’t but enhance the day. KH
