The mood is set to evening romance, a singer who lavishes amid a big orchestral backdrop and it would take a hard heart not to taken by the allure of ‘Smoke in the Limousine’. And I know it is a big call but I heard the Carpenters(and the lesser known but equally cherishable Broadcast) in Pearl Charles song, sepia-tinged love song with all the trimmings and done in a manner that has us suspending disbelief that we’ll soon in be within reach of happy ever after. Sumptuous stuff – there will be tears and the odd celebration along the way too. KH
