There is a whole lot of jangle happening here but done in a melting pot of noise that shows Narwhals are architects of sound beyond the obvious. I mean there is a classical element in there, a voice that appears buried in radio static or bad signal so it doesn’t even register that we’re deep into the 2nd minute before ‘Moor Fires’ drops the narrative. A clash of Interpol, Tindersticks (for Stuart Staples read Jacob Patrick) and Doves to me, majesty of anthemic streak but a serious side that helps when it comes to return trips. In short there is longevity here owing to the thickly layered drifts. For six minutes we defer to this act and come out the other side with a keener and more positive perspective of our ambition for the day. KH
