My oh my Croydon’s My Best Unbeaten Brother sure do don’t leave us in any doubt as to their punk aspirations but they do it it in a novel approach wherein chords are set to raging while a lead singer holds court with an unwavering sense of quiet and controlled majesty. And yes there is something of the David Gedge brand of wild indie rock defeatism so Wedding Present fans like I will celebrate a band who can simultaneously carry inner dejection with a pitchfork in the other hand. Glorious confusion in other words. KH
