The ghost of Teenage Fanclub joyously infiltrates ‘Same Devices’, with all those sixties touchstones in the shape of gilded chords and vocal harmonies that come into their own at this time of year. Of course we’d expect nothing less of British Columbia’s the Sylvia Platters who consistently display an aptitude for the art of tunesome song and it feels particular virulent on this occasion. And that extends from all the sweet intonations to an instrumental break under clear direction from the gods above. You could say were quite taken by it but you’d actually be underestimating our appreciation for this act. KH
