Oh what a jazzy or even bossa nova affair this is, bassing out all over and in a manner that has reminds me of Add N to (X), an avant garde electronic outfit. So ‘Flights of Quandary’ is our kind of oddness, run with abandonment by Dylan Donkin. The Dawn Phenomenon to their eternal credit give the piece a proper sense of song, psychedelic and heads in the clouds for sure but there is something to the groove here that has hints of Badly Drawn Boy but with intervals of sax and such like that give this piece its own distinct flavour. At times I felt it beyond my meagre indie means but wooed we were all the same and to a degree that I couldn’t resist. KH
