Ewan Samms – Meet Me in Montauk

‘Meet Me in Montauk’ exists in a dream, lots of playing early doors but nothing we can put our finger on. So English bard Ewan Samms appears that kind of singer, one for whom the rules that the rest of us abide by don’t apply. Namely following well trodden paths so instead ‘Meet Me in Montauk’ chooses a route to daytime dreams and imagination culturing. Of course we’re ever so jealous of such approaches, not least because there is the talent at his disposal to have the rest of us achieving levity without leaving the couch. A bit of Panda Bear, a hint of Nick Drake but most of all a bard with a different view. Long may his outlook reign for we need flights of fancy such as this to offer up an escape plan for the rest of us. KH
