The Hatchets – Cool Kids

A collection of mintues that is bursting out of its skin, a weirdly retro James Bond soundtrack initially but then ‘Cool Kids’ has a pop turn going for it in those subtle changes of vocal direction. With happenings grabbing the attention all the way through this Milwaukee act have landed us with a grower and the way they deliver the lines you just know there is a fury to their pop grandeur. Sure it is off-kilter but there is a majesty to the nostalgia filled innovation with hints of the very great Mercury Rev offering up a beautiful bonus. KH
