Such is the pastoral chamber folk of ‘Remains of the Day’ it is not too difficult to see a lineage back to English bard Nick Drake. The arrangement has a Richard Kirby like rich arrangement and a singer in tow who knows how to evoke the freshest of country walks on record. In short there is air and light at every turn from the Melbourne-based Nir Tsfaty, never done in an obvious way but fulsome of creativity as to give us a prop-up for getting through the day. It’s rare that things get this orchestral in our world but ‘Remains of the Day’ insists on operating in a designed-to-swoon basis. KH
