The distant jazz scene that opened ‘Optigan’ was definitely an ear cocker for me and to be honest what following in terms of the jaunty kind of version of the Coral/Doves was up there too. Boston’s Little Miss Echo have crafted something with a summer swagger and given we’re in peak grey February I for one was grateful for its endless glow. The band’s ambitions are clear, never content to rest on their laurels as ‘Optigan’ continues to evolve as it progresses to an impressive psychedelic swell. Amounts to several minutes of happiness, a fillup that is there to boost the internal coffers whenever it is called upon. KH
