Astrachan – Ladakh

In terms of putting us into an era of music there is no denying that Astrachan’s ‘Ladakh’ plays to the sixties version of the Beach Boys. How else can you explain the high watermark melodic harmonies that trip from the speaker like I’m From Barcelona had regained a new lease of life. This is escapism to the point of pop fantasy, a production like a colourful tapestry that ceaselessly finds ways to reinvent itself while never departing from that golden set of inflences. The woodwind seems apt in a chamber pop production, from the solo hand of Chicago’s Benjamin Astrachan, over 4 minutes that sees a suspension of disbelief and making like it is ok to wear fresh flowers in our hair all over again.
