Such a lively start and ‘Is It Real?’ really doesn’t move away from turning out nice sequences. So Melbourne’s Vital Sparks become the kind of act that are made for giving the alternative a contender for delivering the return of the smile. That is down to the strong songwriting, post Pavement but in a manner that those slacker here were capable of nailing the melodies when they put their minds to it. Under 3 minutes of fun then, a singalong anthem for those who have a penchant for that 90’s sound of yore. KH
