Daena Weeks – Shedding Layers

A quiet ambience to matters as ‘Shedding Layers’ makes its quiet presence known, a trance in the exotic playing in fact but the real clarity comes from a singer who matches and even surpasses the easy mood in the instrumental swells. Reminded me of Massive Attack at times, but truly Daena Weeks is out on her own and ‘Shedding Layers’ makes like such a refreshing listen because it is meditative and restorative with a psychedelic dimension that winds up the build with a precious subtlety. Gobsmacked. KH
