The Lylacs – Visions of You

The Lylacs take us up and beyond usual borders and the sense of levitation was clear to me from the off. Joined by singer Francis Blume means the California duo are good for that kind of dreamy sequence, an act who have sent us off on a merry waltz before. ‘Visons of You’ quite reminded me of the Dream Academy in fact, that great lost English act from the 80’s. And there is parallels in the orchestration too for ‘Visions of You’ doesn’t skimp on the orchestrations so there were times it felt as if we could be swirling in an alternative James Bond theme galaxy. Where there is romance and grandeur you normally won’t find us but on this occasion the case is too compelling to be anything other than smitten. KH
