The Amazing – Last Stand

Yes I quietly said to myself this sure is a return to the sort of form that we’d associate with Sweden’s the Amazing, not least because the guitars have again taken center-stage but work in tandem with the sort of vocal that has us reminded of indie times of yore. Not least the Cure, Chapterhouse and the dreampop/shoegaze cohort which still cast a bright shadow on our listening habits. ‘Last Stand’ is almost hymnal in its approach, an anthem for those who don’t want their tinnitus to flare up and in a manner that most resembles ‘Pictures of You’ from an instrumental perspective. Winter might just have its first keeper, a song to warm us up while everything else all around tries to effect the opposite. KH
