Seconds in and we knew we had the minimum that you’d expect of a Peli Gene track and that was jangling chords but like we also know there will also be plenty of other attractions and on ‘Slow Mind’ they come thick and fast. That is down to the beautiful union of playing and a singer, Gabe Parker, who gets stuck right in the heart of the mix. There were trace Lotus Eaters ‘First Picture of You’ happening here but much of the joy within is all of Peli Gene’s own making – always striving for better no matter what slings and arrows come his way. An absolute stunner of a track. KH
