Jerry Peerson – Mistakes

A song that seemed to me to be on the road to incendiary from the off, a driving and propulsive guitar line and an imagination at the helm that appeared to me at least capable of mixing things up so ‘Mistakes’ was never going to run out of gas. If anything it was capable of renewing itself time and again and it left me wondering whether Jerry Peerson had swallowed the rulebook according to Sugar on how to take us back to peak 90’s alt territory. Who knows and really who cares when ‘Mistakes’ just operates to this degree of majesty. Hints of Sonic Youth here and there but most of a nose for changing ones spots endlessly with victories on each occasion. KH
