Winter has descended if ‘Alicia From the Store’ is anything to go by. That is because it has that kind of fresh and organic quality and done in a manner that only chamber pop is capable of. Cricket Blue (Laura Heaberlin and Taylor Smith) drawn from times gone by but that doesn’t mean they don’t have clear messaging in 2023. The playing is as ornate as can but it is in those vocals that the ear is drawn, the ebb and flow and the layered qualities means these minutes are forever presenting us with ways to fall effortlessly into its arms. ‘Alicia From The Store’ is dramatic but in a low-key manner, but what it does effortlessly is fill our heart with endless hope.
