Can’t but feel the innocence and joy of ‘Friendship’, the kind that exists in a purity of spirit and all wrapped up in a little folk ditty that we can all sing together in an unusual case of everyone feeling that same warm feeling. Steven Van Betten makes it all sound so effortless, getting on our good side from seconds in and that is down to a wholesome tune, simple playing and the sort of hummable air that will be with us until we drop off this evening. Have to celebrate such simple and enduring pleasures from a Nevada singer who has never lost his gift for wonder. KH
