Crikey this is impressive, a song that ever appears to be on the lookout for making itself even more impressive with that Blur ‘Coffee & TV’ charge as its centerpiece. And by god that is a rare quality in 2023 but Michael Simon Armstrong has summoned all of his tricks into one holy grail of a tune on ‘Semantics’. Reminded me of Brendan Benson, a pop attuned rock star with a foraging quality so the music never stands still – only builds and blooms before our ears. We’ve been listening to this act for some time and it has culminated in the true majesty that is ‘Semantics’. KH
