The Travelling Band – Super 8 Surrender

You know that is a really cool title and so I wasn’t in the least bit surprised when the Travelling Band went over all funky on us early doors with ‘Super 8 Surrender’. The playing is vibrant and laidback at once while Jo Dudderidge on the mic just directs matters before we hit peak fluidity. That comes in a chorus that has a swagger and which straddles the pop/rock divide with plenty of nuance. A little Grizzly Bear but I can see how they reference I Am Kloot in there for this could be the sequel to ‘To You’. All told ‘Super 8 Surrender’ is a most convincing package made for these late summer days. KH
