Takeshi’s Cashew & Aloa Input – 42 Something

In between flitting off to exotic locations ’42 Something’ gave us more than a little reminder about why we loved Stereolab in the first place, with a bit of Belle & Sebastian thrown in for good measure. Of course this Austrian collective do have their own angle and it is an impressive one as it offers up a soft motorik of propulsion and gently issued words. If it is spacey tones, bleeps from way out in alien country and wood flutes you are after then this track will have you sated. The crowning achievement is the singing for me though, adding a folky resonance to all that futuristic soundtracking and the effect is akin to riding on a space craft without any of the pesky g-force.
