Pale Puma – Down By The River

I love the look of all the influences (Beach Fossils, Deerhunter) listed in Pale Puma’s bio and the suit of sweet jangling moves here proved too irresistible for me to look the other way. The joy comes from several sources, the chiming chords of course but also the vocal action that sees the main vocal by Django Duijns dancing with backing singer Rosie Derksen in a manner that reads like true chemistry. The kind that turns ‘Down By The River’ into dreamy territory, prime 90’s sweetness that has old buzzards like me remembering what it felt like to be swooned by the sound effects. Faultless. KH
