The intimacy is what I picked up on first of all, a singer from Brisbane who gets to an Elliott Smith (and Gareth Inkster) like quiet quality but who is also able to scrape the essentials from what is going on inside of him and turn it into memorable song. ‘Find Me An Apartment’ (in Berlin) already feels like it has been with us aeons and that is because we are likely to return to it time and again. Proper music with soul and melodies that are unstated but crucial to the success of the tune. KH
