Slove & Appaloosa – Fireflies

Being the old codger that I am I often hear snatches of old tracks and in the case of ‘Fireflies’ it was Lipps Inc’s ‘Funky Town’. Now there is probably more of a future leaning electronic twist to the main synth but it still had me getting nostalgic. That the vocals have been twisted through the machines came as no surprise and as result ‘Fireflies’ does stand apart by virtue of its ever hypnotic qualities. In other words it is simple but heavily laden with all sorts of moving parts, the kind that click and appeal to our need for escapism on record. If Kraftwerk did Saturday nights then Fireflies could be what they’d have conceived. KH
