Mayzie – Changes – mp3hugger

It takes time to take hold this track from Christchurch’s Mayzie, the kind that will have the kids scurrying elsewhere but us old heads know that to stick around is to reap the rewards and in the case of Mayzie that appears to be pretty much guaranteed. That is because tracks like ‘Changes’ channel the best of the 90’s dreampop movement to give us the Cocteau Twins in new and impressive attire. There is actually a groove too, to go with all the atmospheric scene setting so while we may shed a tear at some point we can also salute the feeling of moving on to better things. A delightful few minutes with a chorus that had us in full swoon. KH
