A tune that definitely has 90’s directions, a hip singer (Maria Elisabeth Thornton) and a soundtrack all around that gives ‘Vienna’ a groove that is instantly obvious and which makes for a swell of noise that is perfectly pitched for the fevered summer festival crowds. In other words Liz Metta hit that sweet spot where it is neither wholly indie or dance but a dreamy amalgamation of the two and we’re all for such genre splicing affairs. Openly happy and giving of itself means that ‘Vienna’ had me thinking of an updated St. Etienne mixed with Men I Trust. An ever spinning sphere of joy. KH
