Towne & Stevens – Please Hold The Line

It tinkles like a lullaby and as it is early in the AM here we’re thankful for such small mercies. Did know in advance however that Towne & Stevens were capable of such things, a ring of the Band about them, and ‘Please Hold The Line’ continues in the americana vein that we have associated with this duo. In other words there is a varnished feel to proceedings, never too quick to try and impress us but doing it the old way and in a manner that showcases fine playing and a singer who dips in and out at the most opportune times. Sounds comforting from the very first listen and essential thereafter. A bright new force emerging and this is the torch song to illustrate Towne & Stevens to the world. KH
