Samuel Blaney – Ember

So this is how the evening sounds when the city has been blocked out and we were in wild nature, or at least nature that is settling down for another long dark and pensive night. Samuel does it with such a studied intensity that somehow it never feels like it is offering anything other than contemplation. ‘Ember’ is intimate stuff, romantic to the core and capable of issuing a tear from even the most hardened of creatures. Mostly though it offers a chance to reset, to appreciate the opportunity we’ve been given and set out again on that great adventure with renewed vigour. Beautiful stuff from the West of Ireland’s foremost singing horticulurist. KH
