Pale Puma – The World Below

We’re quite aware of what Dutch act Pale Puma are capable of and a few seconds in the company of ‘The World Below’ tells us a lot of what they can achieve. Not least a cavalcade of jangle, twinned with a singer (Django Duijns) who knows hows to ride the chiming swell and thrust a lovely chorus into our ears at the same time. It is ever so baggy, Madchester and even shoegaze derived with the latter arriving at an unexpected fuzzed out instrumental break. Being the sort that I am, a 90’s aficionado, it is impossible to turn my nose up so instead I just whipped out my old Joe Bloggs and conjured some floppy fringed action with a good deal less hair than I once sported.
