Derde Verde – After The Storm

Even if we didn’t know it already with a roll call of influences that include Midlake and Grizzly Bear it was pretty obvious that the latest Derde Verde effort was going to be tugging at our heartstrings. They do that in their now familiar late 90’s indie rock ways, touched by slacker and by a more melodic Radiohead to create a swirl of vocal (Dylan McKenzie), chord intermingling (Jonathan Schwarz) and loose drumming (Colin Woodford) that sounds like it could have us dreaming of days spent idling with whatever music we could lay our hands on with a tune like this giving us that day’s crescendo. LA’s Derde Verde are one special act. KH
