Corey Gulkin – Raya

Quite the ambient texture, the kind befitting foggy mornings when we are at our most vulnerable and need the company of strangers who might be feeling similarly. This ‘Raya’ is one moody piece, always looking for reasons for hope and the way it progresses no little glory either. Montreal’s Corey Gulkin has conjured a big opus, wide-eyed arrangements but it is the vocals where the grandeur is most apparent because they give us reason to believe in ourselves. Good for the soul this stirring work and taken from ‘Half Moon’, which comes out in October. KH
