Mary Middlefield – Firearm

Swiss based artist Mary Middlefield reminded me Irish band called the Plague Monkeys who mixed melancholy with grand guitar structures. ‘Firearm’ has such a pretty arrangement, always steering clear of the familiar but with the characteristics that give Mary Middlefield the edge over the competition. It is haunting to a fault, but a romantic old soul at the same time. ‘Firearm’ is a remarkable work that has all the qualities of a timeless record we will return to time again. Reminded me of Everything But The Girl, nothing fussy, no quick dopamine shots just a constant air of greatness. KH
