Codefendants – Brutiful

Codefendants are made up of Fat Mike from NOFX, Ceschi Ramos of Fake Four Inc. and Sam King of Get Dead and I’ve listened to much of their debut album ‘This Is Crime Wave’ and what a sprawling and impressive affair it is. Ambitious, varied and full of personality and the noise a rock album should emit. As always they mean business on ‘Brutiful’ and a lead vocal that reminded me of Willy Mason. It meant that every second of ‘Brutiful’ has a depth of emotion that also evoked Bright Eyes but with every molecule of his being turned to rabid action. My fave from Codefendants because it balances the quiet and the loud parts and how both could only thrive because of the presence of the other. KH
