There is always plenty of dream action when it comes to Brighton’s Cloud and ‘Whales’ is no different. In fact I would say they have a good deal of OX4’s finest Ride written in their DNA to a degree that this could have come from their early EP’s. Plenty of the Bluetones too, the Charlatans and indeed the Stone Roses happening also. So all very baggy and my generation’s sound where the music transported us beyond our banal surrounds. Just so much good stuff going on here, the soul and the groove and the distinct whiff of psychedelic gestures that are so vital for the escapism that music should be. The 90’s ahoy! KH
