The Overhead Bins – Microphone

Now that is a singer who pours every inch of themselves into a piece that could have been recorded on a misty moor in middle England. So we’re talking about folk but the way ‘Microphone’ takes off we are also talking about a rock presentation and it is that build that really got me excited for the Overhead Bins. They have a mystical quality you see, not often seen because rock stars are often too concerned with their preening to get to the thing that makes them attractive to others. ‘Microphone’, despite not indicating as much early doors, properly moved me. Swoonful stuff from the band’s debut LP ‘Telethon’. KH
