I’d have said ‘Heartbeats’ by Jose Gonzalez a few seconds in such is the acoustic plucking, some Nick Drake too but the forlorn qualities are taken in a completely different direction altogether thanks to Mary Middlefield’s beautiful turn of harmony. But this is not all doom and gloom, not at all because’ Two Thousand One’ has the chutzpah to rise above melancholy and that is all down to the force of nature that is this Swiss act. An ever so beautiful coming to terms with breakup, but the strength to move on and stronger in another direction.
