In this newly infactuated Kate Bush world (what was up with you for so long world!) there was always going to be consequences and some of them are very happy ones. Maja Lena is at the top end of the posse because this reminds us of the English bard but also brings something indeliably new too. ‘Portal’ is music that goes beyond pop and out into a world where possibilities are endless. Folky and lightly experimental it has the elixir to elevate the listener to a place where all that potential quickly finds a tap for itself. An absolute delight from start to finish. Maja Lena’s sophomore LP ‘Pluto’ comes out in early December. KH
