Ten Minute Detour – Calibrate

A slow kind of turn and with a singer who has a manner that makes all the down tempo feel like a perfectly judged way to go. Ten Minute Detour you see are comfortable in their own morose skin and as a result ‘Calibrate’ reminded me of Grandaddy, melancholy but the epic kind that is actually aspirational for weird types and some normal people. The production is lush too, the playing alone offering comfort and fine ambience but when combined with him on the microphone it gets as swoonful as can be. A little Grizzly Bear in there, but of the night-time swaying on your own kind of arrangement. KH
