Certain Self – Tenderness

If it’s meaningful you’re after then Brooklyn’s Certain Self is your only man. At first I thought we had entered Carpenters territory and it definitely has that kind of plaintive approach but ‘Tenderness’ is pop that mines a depth of emotion that is about 20,000 leagues under the sea deeper than the majority of acts. In fact the emotional aspect of this track is so overwhelming I had to listen twice to get a handle on its effortless approach. A bit from out of leftfield for me but music with this much heart means we were left prostrate on the floor in awe. KH
