Alba James – Walls

A distant voice, could be in the other room or out at sea it is hard to tell but ‘Walls’ shows French wonder Alba James to be capable of snaring us all the same. And so when the mist evaporates all that intense melancholy is somewhat uplifting, odd I know but perhaps that is the result of getting an artist to bare their soul and our natural affinity for such things. This track has the wonder of Christmas about it, an arrangement that is never quite lush but never less than charming either. For something so timid ‘Walls’ sure is beguiling and there is more more beside on Alba’s debut EP ‘Bedroom Walls’. KH
